Dear PPS-SF Community,

The Board of Directors of Parents for Public Schools of San Francisco (PPS-SF) and Executive Director Masharika Prejean Maddison announce Masharika’s decision to step down at the end of September 2016.

This is bittersweet: Masharika has been the right leader for this organization, growing our influence in the city with forward-thinking staff and innovative programming. We have been honored to benefit from her leadership, and we are excited for all that is in store for her.

What's more, Masharika has pointed us in a new direction as we serve all families and champion our public schools with our new strategic plan, Awake SF. A three-year plan, Awake SF is built on the vision that all San Franciscans are committed to the success of every public school in the city. PPS-SF will pursue the success of every public school by sharing knowledge, bridging communities, and informing policy.

Our dedicated, mission-oriented staff will carry forward Awake SF’s strategic pillars, including annual enrollment workshops reaching over 2,000 families, school governance trainings, parent leadership clubs, policy work (like BoardWatch), and targeted communications.

We welcome Annie Bauccio as Interim Executive Director, allowing PPS-SF the time to hold a search for our next leader. Annie is a former Board member of PPS-SF, former Interim ED of PPS-SF, and active public school parent in San Francisco.

We are planning a public appreciation for Masharika and all she has done for the organization and our community. Please stay tuned for updates about this event.
