Thank you to everyone who
responded to the survey regarding the 2017-2018 SFUSD calendar. The calendar committee will recommend changes to the Board of Education on Tuesday, January 24, at 6pm. As with every Board of Education meeting, public comment is welcome. The proposed changes are as follows:
  • School will start one week later on August 21, 2017
  • School will end one week later on June 5, 2018
  • Columbus/Indigenous Peoples/El Dia De La Raza will continue to be observed as a school holiday on October 9, 2017
  • Thanksgiving Break will be extended to one full week, November 20 through November 24, 2017
  • Winter Break will begin and end one week later, December 22, 2017 through January 5, 2018
PPS-SF and other parent groups sought assurances from SFUSD that new dates will be well communicated to families and providers of summer programming. We continue to work with SFUSD to ensure expanded options for childcare in the days before thanksgiving. SFUSD is also committed to work with City College of San Francisco (CCSF) so that SFUSD high school students can continue to take courses at CCSF.
